Megan Uekert (Global Studies 2018) will discuss her research and internship with an NGO providing health services for displaced populations in the Dominican Republic.  She found that the fear of hospital procedures combined with a sense of being ignored or devalued by hospital personnel made pregnant women avoid the hospital, in an effort to avoid stress.

Julie Weilbaker (Spanish & Pre-Med Major 2018) will discuss her research on women’s health in Nepal.  She found that water contamination affects women in a profound way. As caretakers of many in the household, they work directly with water in their daily tasks and this affects their family and themselves.

Victoria Chandler (Global Studies & Creative Writing 2019) will discuss her research on gendered differences in illness in Nepal.

Adrian Milos (Biology 2019) will discuss her research on water contamination and remediation in Nepal.
