China Night 2010

Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is the most important traditional Chinese holiday. It is also an important holiday in East Asia. 2010 is the Year of Tiger. The lunar new year falls on the first day of the first moon (lunar month) and was February 14th in 2010.

On this day, Saint Mary’s College held the second “China Night Program” to celebrate the holiday with the whole community. Our students and local community members performed Chinese dances, music, plays, fashion shows to create a happy holiday atmosphere. The China Summer Program students showcased their study abroad experience in China. All children and students at the event were presented with red envelopes, which is a tradition during the Chinese new year celebration.

Interactive activities on campus introducing Chinese culture, including Chinese papercuts and old photos exhibit in the library were part of the celebration. Traditional Chinese food were erved at the dining hall and at the reception after the evening show.
