"Making a Difference in the World"

The Catalyst Experience takes students, faculty, staff, and community women on a journey exploring leadership for social change while blending self-reflection, internal and external dialogues on race, power, and privilege as well as visits to historic Underground Railroad sites to create a transformative intercultural experience.

  • In 2017, we will begin with an evening of orientation and mask making on Sunday, October 15th.
  • On Monday October 16, we travel to Cincinnati, OH, where we spend three days exploring issues of intercultural interactions, justice, and human rights in the urban setting of the Ozanam Center for Service Learning run by the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
  • Our historical voyage includes a visit to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and to the homes of John Rankin and John Parker, two prominent individuals in the Underground Railroad.
  • We will close by reflecting on transformative leadership in the fight for justice.
